Why my edited translations are not displayed on my website?
In this article, you'll learn how to troubleshoot when you edit a translation but it is not displayed on your live website.
The first thing to do is to clear your website's and browser's cache. Then, re-open your website and check if your modifications are displayed.
If it's still not working, you may have edited the wrong translation. Follow this check-up list to edit the correct translation:
1. Using the Visual Editor (the simplest way to do it)
Go to your Weglot Dashboard, click on the Visual Editor, and edit the translations that are not correctly updated and displayed.
Then, go to your website, switch the language, and check that your edited translations are properly displayed.
2. Using the Translations List
Go to your Weglot Dashboard, click on the Translation List, and follow the three steps below:
As you can see, there are two very similar translations. That's why it may happen that a translation is overriding the right one (See also: What happens if I change the original content of my website?)
a. Try to search in your Translation List for the original string related to the translation that is not correctly updated.
b. Edit the overriding translation and remove other translations that don't seem to be taken into account (See: How to definitely remove a translation?).
c. For all the translations that are not updated, you need to search the related original strings in your translations list and repeat the two steps described above (See: Search Filters - How to easily find a translation?).
3. Refreshing your website's page
Don't hesitate to Hard-Refresh* your website's page, clear the cache, and check back in an incognito window if you don't notice the changes.
*Hard-Refresh:
Mac: cmd shift R
PC: ctrl F5
