Why can't I access the Visual Editor?
In this article, you’ll learn the most common reasons why the Weglot Visual Editor may not be accessible and how to fix the issue.
Check that your website is accessible
You can access the Visual Editor from your Weglot Dashboard > Projects > Visual Editor. For the Visual Editor to work, your website must be online and publicly accessible.

The Visual Editor will not work if:
- Your website is not live
- Your website is in maintenance mode
- Your website is password-protected
So if any of these apply to your website, you won't be able to access the Visual Editor.
Check the website URL in your project
The Visual Editor uses the website URL defined in your Weglot project. Go to Weglot Dashboard > Settings > General and check that the website URL is correct and complete.
Pay special attention to the following:
- The URL must be exact
- If your website uses
www, it must be included in the URL
An incorrect URL can prevent the Visual Editor from loading.
Make sure Weglot is installed on your website
If your website is accessible and the URL is correct, but the Visual Editor still is not working, make sure Weglot is properly installed on your website. Weglot must be activated and connected to your site for the Visual Editor to work.
Edit translations without the Visual Editor
If you still can’t access the Visual Editor, you can continue managing your translations using the Translation List.
Go to Weglot Dashboard > Translations > Languages :
- Edit your translations
- Search and update specific words or sentences
- Manage translations without loading your website
For more details, please see part 1 "Translation List" in the article "How to Edit My Translations".
