How is my total number of translated words calculated?
In this article, you will find how your total number of translated words is calculated.
1) What is the total number of translated words?
It is the total number of words translated by Weglot. You can see it on your Weglot Dashboard.
It depends on:
- the number of words you have in your original language
- the number of translated languages you added
For instance, if your English website has 8,000 words and you translated it into 3 languages (French, German, and Arabic), you will have 3*8,000 = 24,000 translated words.
Note that this number is not related to your website traffic.
2) What type of content is taken into account?
All words which have been translated, at least one time, are taken into account.
Content that is no longer displayed on your website will remain counted (unless you removed them from your Translations list).
Note that the following format/content is not included in your total number of translated words:
- Any nonword/text content
3) How does the word count work?
When you set up Weglot on your website, your Translations list is empty.
As soon as a page is visited in a translated language, the related translations are generated and appear in your Translations list. The words are added progressively as the page is visited for the first time in the translated language. If you do not see a translation from a specific page, first try to visit the page in the translated language to generate the translation.
To know the total number of translated words of your website, all your translated pages need to be visited at least once in each translated language.
