How can I manage my URLs and generate the translations?

This article will teach you how to manage your URLs, synchronize the content, and detect missing URLs with the "manage URL" feature.

When someone visits your website in one of your translated languages, Weglot generates the translations and adds them progressively to your Translations List.

However, there's another way to generate translations and manage your URLs without visiting all your pages. You can do this in the Translations > URLs page.

1. Add a missing URL

2. Generate some translations

a. Sync content for a specific language

b. Sync content for all languages

c. Sync content for several URLs in bulk

3. Manage URLs through the filters

a. Select one or several languages

b. Most translation requests

c. Least translation requests

d. Contains the most number of translations

e. Contains the least number of translations

f. Most recently added

g. Least recently added

h. Search a URL

4. Delete URLs

1. Add a missing URL: "Missing a URL? Scan your website" feature

Scroll down, and at the very bottom of the page, you'll find the "Missing a URL? Scan your website." feature:

Click on the link, and then a popup will appear.

After scanning your website, Weglot will suggest more URLs to add. Check the URL(s) you want to add to your list and click "Add URL(s)".

Note: If you see an error message that says, "Your website is unreachable," it means Weglot cannot scan your website. It may be because your website is not live yet or is password-protected. In this case, you can temporarily make it public while you add your URLs.

2. Generate some translations for one or several URLs in your URL list

If the URL is empty, or you think some translations are missing, you can generate the translations in several ways. However, be aware that your translations will appear in your Translation List after synchronizing your content.

You can also directly access the translations for a URL in your Translation List by clicking on the note icon next to the number of translations:

a. Sync content for a specific language

To generate translations for a specific language, find the URL in your list, and click on the circular arrow icon next to the "No translations found for this URL and language" message:

A message will then appear in the top right corner: "Please wait while we're syncing content...":

b. Sync content for all languages

To generate translations for all languages for a URL, click on "Sync content for this URL and selected languages" which is the circular arrow next to the URL name:

c. Sync content for several URLs in a bulk

To do so, be sure to check the URL(s) you want to translate:

To generate translations, click "Sync content for all selected URLs and selected languages" which is the circular arrow at the bottom of your screen. As you can see, it will visit the URL selected and add the content to your URLs and your Translation List. It will then add all translations that have not yet been generated:

A message will appear in the top right corner: "Please wait while we're syncing content...".

You can finally find your translations in your Translation List.

You can directly access the translations for a URL in your Translation List by clicking the note icon next to the number of translations.

3. Manage URLs through the filters

To manage your URLs, you have several filter options:

a. Select one or several languages

This filter allows you to manage your URLs for one or more languages. Click on the languages you want to manage to display them:

b. Most translation requests

You can use this filter if you want to display the most requested URLs in the translated languages by your visitors on your website.

For example, knowing your most requested URLs can help you improve your automatic translations by manually editing them (How to edit my translations?) or ordering professional translations (How to order professional translations?) if needed:

c. Least translation requests

You can use this filter to display the less requested URLs in the translated languages by your visitors on your website. For example, if you need to remove translations (How to permanently delete a translation?) or exclude URLs from translation (How to exclude URLs/blocks/words from translation?) to reduce the number of words in your word count limit, this filter helps you know which content is less requested by your visitors:

d. Contain most translations

You can use this filter to know which URLs contain the most number of translations on your website:

e. Contain the least number of translations

This filter tells you which URLs contain the least number of translations on your website:

f. Most recently added

You can use this filter to know which URLs have been added recently to have their content translated:

g. Least recently added

You can use this filter to know which URLs have been added a long time ago:

h. Search a URL

If you can't find a specific URL or have too many, use the URL search bar to help you. Just enter the name of the URL, and it will be displayed:

4. Delete URLs

Select one or several URLs and click on the trash bin at the bottom of your screen to delete all selected URLs:

You will receive the following prompt to validate the deletion.

Click on "Delete" if you want to delete the URLs and all translations associated:

Before clicking "Delete," you can switch on the "Exclude URLs from translations" button if you don't want those URLs translated on your website. You can find the URL exclusion in your Weglot Dashboard > Settings > Translations Exclusions:
