How to use the Visual Editor

In this article, you'll find how to use the Visual Editor and how to manage your translations easily.

The Visual Editor is a tool that will allow you to edit your translation on a copy of your website. Thanks to the Visual Editor, you can easily find the translations you need to edit and preview the results.

1. How to edit translations

You can access the Visual Editor in your Weglot Dashboard > Visual editor

Click on "Start editing." You'll then be redirected to a copy of your website, where you can edit all your translations. Note that you can navigate to your website and change the language directly from the visual editor.

In this environment, your websites' regular mechanisms that need cookies to store information, such as the 'add to cart,' Login system, cookie consent mechanisms, or dynamic content, may not load/work in the Visual Editor.

To edit a translation, click on the blue pencil.

(If the blue pencil does not appear here is a useful shortcut you can use to edit the translation)

Mac: Option + Left Click

Windows: Alt + Left Click

A box will pop out, and you will be able to change the translations.

You can also change the language you need to edit directly from this box.

Once done, you will read the message "Translation saved."

When your edits are done, you can go to your website and refresh it; you should see the translated content edited.

Don't hesitate to Hard-Refresh* your website's page and check back in an incognito window if you don't notice the changes.

*Hard-Refresh:

In the "Information" tab

2. How to manage the translation's quality

When using the Visual editor, you can see highlighted blocks. When you select a language at the top of the screen, you can choose the translation qualities.

When you select a quality, the blocks that fetch the qualities will be highlighted, making it easy to find specific translations, such as the manually edited ones or the ones that have been professionally translated.

You can see below examples of texts that are automatic and manual (in blue and red)

3. How to edit the meta tags and content

Using the Visual Editor, you can also directly manage your SEO. To edit them, you can click on the "SEO tags" button near the qualities and the URL at the top of the screen.

In the box, you will see the meta tags that are present on your page, and you can edit them following the same procedure as your website text.
