How to change the tone of a translation?
In this article, you will learn how to change the tone of your translations.
1. Can I change the tone of my translation?
Yes, but to access this feature, you must be on at least the Advanced plan. You can find more details on our Pricing page.
Please note that tone customization is not available for all language pairs. It is currently supported only for translations between the following languages:
German | French | Polish | Russian |
English | Italian | Portuguese | |
Spanish | Japanese | Dutch | |
To check whether you have access to this feature, go to your Weglot dashboard > Select your project > Open the Languages tab > Click on Options.
If the "Tone" section appears, then this feature is available for the selected language pair:
2. How do you change the tone of a translation?
You can change the tone of a translation by using the "tone" feature that you can access by going to your Weglot dashboard > Select your project > Open the Languages tab > Click on Options.
There, you’ll be able to select one of the following tones:
- Default
- Less formal
- More formal
⚠️ Important: Changing the tone does not automatically update existing translations. To apply the new tone, you’ll need to delete the existing translations and regenerate them. You can follow this article to learn how to do this easily.
