How to change the tone of a translation?
In this article, you will learn how to change the tone of your translations.
1. Can I change the tone of my translation?
To have the possibility to change the tone of your translations, you need to manage at least an Advanced plan (see more information on our Pricing page).
Be aware that a change of tone is not possible for every language.
The pairs of languages for which the tone can be changed are the ones involving only these languages:
German | Estonian | Latvian | Slovak |

Arabic | French | Dutch | Swedish |
Bulgarian | Greek | Norwegian | Czech |
Simplified Chinese | Hungarian | Polish | Turkish |

You can directly check if you can access this feature by going to your Weglot dashboard > Select a project > Go to the Languages tab > Options.
If the "tone" part is displayed, then you have access to this feature for this pair of languages:
2. How do you change the tone of a translation?
You can change the tone of a translation by using the "tone" feature that you can access by going to your Weglot dashboard > Select a project > Go to the Languages tab > Options.
Here, you can choose if you want to use the default tone, a less formal tone, or a more formal one:
Be aware that if you change the tone of a language pair, the corresponding translations that have already been generated are not changed, you need to delete the translations and generate them again. This article explains how to generate your translations easily.
