How to use Quick Connect
In this article, you’ll learn how to use Quick Connect and easily set your subdomains or subdirectories.
Quick Connect is a feature that allows you to set subdomain or subdirectory integration automatically without having to change DNS records in your hosting provider manually. It enables you to save time and eliminate the technical aspects of the process.
Subdomain and subdirectory integration are used to make your website indexed by Google.
You can learn more about how we manage your SEO by reading our SEO documentation.
Step 1: Create an account on Weglot (~ 1 minute)
You'll find and manage all your translations on this account. Simply create a Weglot account here.
Step 2: Select your website technology / CMS
Select your website technology according to our integration guides. If it isn't available, select “Other”.
Step 3: Choose languages
Then, you reach the "Configure your languages" page where you need to specify your website's original language (the language in which your website was initially created) and the languages you want to translate it into.
In the example below:
- the original language is: French
- the translated language is: English
Click “Next” to go to the next step.
Step 4: Add your website details
You will land on a new page where you need to enter your website's URL (you must enter your own domain name, like mywebsite.com), not a URL generated by your CMS.
Then, click on the "Next" button.
Step 5: Use Quick Connect
You will now click the Quick Connect integration button.
You will then see a pop-up where you accept to use Quick Connect.
After this pop-up, you will have to add your hosting provider credentials. This will allow us to create all the setup for you. The pop-up is secured and encrypts your credentials.
Your hosting provider is where you rent your domain.
After adding the credentials, the setup will proceed on its own, and you will see a confirmation pop-up
After that, you will land on the setup page, confirming the DNS is ready. Click on Finish, and your website will now be multilingual!
